Mission to help children of working families

Attorney Sam Perroni, the author of “Brainstorm, An Investigation of the Mysterious Death of Film Star Natalie Wood,” has announced he’s made a second donation to a Catalina Island nonprofit that provides educational activities for children of working families on the island.

Perroni said this week he has donated another $2,500 to “Catalina Kids Ventures,” a preschool program offering a variety of activities for children.

“I think they do great work and I’ve committed to contributing $10,000 to further their mission,” Perroni said in making the donation.

Perroni said he was very impressed with the preschool program when he first met officials of Catalina Kids Ventures while visiting the island in 2021.

Mayor Anni Marshall, who introduced Perroni to the program during his visit, expressed her appreciation this week. “We very much appreciate Sam’s generosity,” she said, confirming the nonprofit had indeed received the donation.

Marshall said running the preschool program is very expensive and that donations from individuals greatly enhance the overall Catalina Kids Ventures mission.

She said the preschool program provides options and educational efforts for children of working families from 18 months to five years old.

Perroni said he is committed to providing additional contributions in the future.
