Every year Avalon K-12 School celebrates Read Across America by having older students read to younger students and eating “Green Eggs and Ham” for breakfast. This year, in addition to partner reading, our Middle School and High School ASB dressed up in costumes inspired by children’s books and went from class to class blowing bubbles and passing out bookmarks to students.

Read Across America is a national event that takes place annually on March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss.

It was created by the National Education Association to encourage and celebrate the joy of reading and schools across the country participate in a variety of ways. While the program was initially centered around Dr. Seuss books, it has expanded to include books that reflect diverse perspectives and experiences. Read Across America is a fun and engaging way to promote reading and literacy.
