Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon’s Sheriff’s Stations significant incidents report for the period of Dec. 29, 2022 to Jan. 4, 2023. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

December 29, 2022

• Deputies were flagged down on the 100 block of Clarissa Avenue regarding a business disturbance. The informant stated 2 people had left the location without paying their bill. The deputies contacted the couple who stated they left the establishment because they did not like the service they received.

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Whittley Avenue to check the welfare of a man living at the location. The man’s friend said he was worried because he had not heard from buddy. The deputies made contact with the man and awoke him from his winter hibernation. The man stated he was fine and enjoying his sleep.

December 30, 2022

• Deputies responded to Cabrillo Drive regarding a resident hearing noises inside her home. The deputies checked the location and determined there were no monsters under the bed.

Deputies on patrol conducted two traffic stops on Catalina Avenue. They cited both drivers for having expired vehicle registration.

• Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Marilla Avenue. They warned the driver and advised him it was a violation to have green lights facing forward on his vehicle. The driver was cooperative and stated he would change his lights.

December 31, 2022

• Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Beacon Street and Metropole Avenue. They issued the driver a citation for being unlicensed and driving without headlights.

• Deputies conducted traffic enforcement on the 200 block of Whittley Avenue. They issued 3 citations for vehicles being unregistered.

January 1, 2023

• Deputies responded to Sol Vista regarding a family disturbance. The caller stated her ex-husband is knocking on the front door and wont leave. On the way to the residence, the deputies contacted the man and told him to stop bothering people. The man was cooperative and apologized. The deputies advised the woman how to obtain a restraining order from Long Beach Court.

January 2, 2023

• Deputies responded to a loud music call on the 300 block of Wrigley Terrace Road. They contacted the disturbing party and issued him a citation for playing his music too loud.

January 3, 2023

• Deputies responded to a disturbance call at the Cross. The caller stated loud music was coming from the area. The deputies responded and the disturbing parties were gone prior to their arrival.

January 4, 2023

• Deputies responded to a suspicious person on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue. The caller stated a female adult was passed out on the 2nd floor staircase. The deputies contacted the woman and determined she was under the influence of alcohol and unable to care for herself. Araceli Villanueva , 31, Palmdale, was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.
