Museum calendar is filled with April events

Family Free Day returns on April 24

Catalina Museum for Art & History will offer a variety of events this April suited for all ages. Visitors will have the opportunity to see live comedy, cruise around the island and take the kids to the museum for free.

First up on April 1, the Catalina Museum will present First Fridays at the Museum: Comedy Night from 6 to 9 p.m. featuring Ace Guillen and Paul Morrissey. An evening of comedy for all ages, the event will be held in-person at the Schreiner Family Plaza with a few fun snacks and a specialty cocktail by resident mixologist Kellie. This family friendly comedy show begins at 6:30 p.m. and will end around 8 p.m. A specialty cocktail, beer, wine and other refreshments will be available for purchase, plus Museum galleries will be open to enjoy. Tickets are $15 for members, $20 for non-members and $5 for children (ages 3-15).

On April 19, set sail around Catalina Island during the ‘Round the Island Cruise: Shipwreck Edition from 11:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. This circumnavigation cruise is a rare and extraordinary opportunity to support the museum and enjoy Catalina’s natural beauty in a way that few people ever have. With a host of local experts sharing their knowledge and insider stories, passengers will learn about the island while enjoying miles of rugged coastline and secluded coves. Guests will ride in comfort on the Catalina Express, as well as enjoy a box lunch and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase throughout the tour. Single tickets are $200 per person or double tickets are $350 (a couple or 2 people traveling together).

Lastly, on April 24, the museum will host its popular Family Free Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Family Free Days are intended to inspire the next generation of museum visitors. Each family can enjoy the exhibitions throughout the museum, along with a family art project from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Up to two adults may each claim a free ticket to the museum when accompanied by a visitor age 17 or younger.
