Girls volleyball team on to the semifinals

The Lady Lancers volleyball team came focused and determined to get a win on Wednesday. Avalon traveled to Santa Clara High of Oxnard and defeated the Saints, 25-17, 25-23, 25-22, to advance to the CIF-SS Division 9 semifinals on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Avalon School. The girls played great defense and came out swinging hard. Setter Virginia Soto had 10 kills, 21 assists and eight digs. Yuliana Vega had 30 digs and 28 serve receives. Hannah Hoefs had 11 kills and five digs. Giselle Alvarez had eight kills and nine digs. Alana Moreno had five aces and had a scoring runs of nine and eight points. Daniella Moreno chipped in five kills and nine digs. The Lancers will host Mesa Grande Academy on Saturday for a chance to go to the finals on Saturday, Nov. 9. “These girls want it more than ever and are excited for their home semifinal game,” said Coach Carlos Martinez said.
