February 2025: visitor count up 32.9%

Visitor counts were 32.9% greater in February 2025 than they were in February 2024, according to data recently released by Love Catalina Island Tourism Authority (the local Chamber of Commerce).

Love Catalina released the February 2025 visitor counts on May 19.

“Passengers arriving by sea in February totaled 53,302, up for the month by 33.5% from last year,” according to Love Catalina.

“Cross Channel Passenger counts were up 9.3%, an increase of 2,245 people. Cross Channel Counts above include arrivals at Two Harbors,” according to Love Catalina.

“Cross Channel Passengers made up 48.17% of total monthly arrivals,” according to the website.

“Cruise passenger counts totaled 25,401 up from 14,746 last year, an increase of 72.3% from 2024 or 10,655 visitors,” according to the website.

“Cruise Passengers made up 46.19% of total monthly arrivals,” according to the website.

“The number of Cruise Ships calling on Avalon in February was 7,” the website said.

“Private Boater Passenger counts totaled 1,404 up by 51.3% from last year’s total of 928 or by 476 visitors,” the website said.

“Private Boaters made up 2.55% of total monthly arrivals,” the website said.

“February’s number of Vessels Anchored was up 9.5% @ 81 from 74 last year,” the website said.

“February was above the three, five and ten-year averages by 121.9%, 24.5% and 6.4% respectively,” the website said.

“Private Aircraft Passengers (Airport in the Sky) totaled 1,224, up 79.7% or by 543 passengers vs. last year @ 681,” the website said.

“Private Aircraft Passengers made up 2.23% of total monthly arrivals,” the website said.

“Helicopter Passenger counts totaled 462 down year-over-year from 759 by 39.1% or 297 arrivals,” the website said.

“Helicopter Passengers made up .84% of total monthly arrivals,” the website said.
