The Avalon PTA earned over $6,000 to give out to college bound seniors. We want to thank the community for stepping up, once again, and helping to provide opportunities for Avalon kids. The money will go to students graduating this June and who are heading off to college next Fall. The students need to volunteer to help PTA throughout the year. There is also an application process that requires them to submit a resume, letters of recommendation, high school transcripts and an essay about their plans for the future. They receive the money after we receive their proof of enrollment in college.

Team Coyote Joe’s came in first this year. All the golfers enjoyed the event. It was a beautiful day out on the course followed by drinks and dinner at the Sand Trap.

Special thanks go to many local businesses who donated to this event. Many businesses donated $500 which included a donation and a team of four golfers. These were Catalina Express, Avalon Freight Services, Santa Catalina Island Co., Luau Larry’s, Loyds of Avalon, Catalina Business Enterprises.

We also received cash donations and raffle prizes from Avalon Lions Club, Hotel Metroploe, the Brew House, Coyote Joe’s, Touch of Heaven Day Spa, Descanso Beach Ocean sports and more.

Avalon PTA needs parent support to continue. Our PTA has been run by a very small group of teachers and parents over the last few years.

PTA provides scholarships, assemblies, character education incentives, and other enrichment programs. We desperately need parent participation. As of now we will not have a PTA next year. Please call Sarah Perez ASAP if you are interested in helping, at 310-938-1290.
