Annual Rubber Ducky Derby returns to Avalon April 12

Sunday, April 12, the harbor once again will be invaded by hundreds of little yellow rubber duckies.  This fun and creative event is a fundraiser for Kids at Play Children’s Theater Company.  The process is easy–you just adopt a duck (solo ducks 5 bucks or 5 quackers for 20 smackers) from any kids at play player, in the post office arcade, or day of the race and then bring them down to South Beach and cheer them to victory.

Duck registration begins at 10 a.m. and the first race is at high noon.  The first race is the corporate sponsored race.  Many local businesses have adopted extra large ducks for a $100 donation.

They will compete for bragging rights and a perpetual trophy.

There are still ducks available for corporate sponsorship.  Individual races will immediately follow the first race.

In addition to racing ducks, there is also a best in show decorated duck competition.  These fancy ducks are not allowed in the water but always put on a good show.  Plus new this year there will be spin art ducks.  First place will be awarded to best spin art duck.
