With the theme “Red, White and 250: Celebrating Our History and Defining Our Future,” there is no one who better represents the heart of Avalon than Val Schafer, named Grand Marshal of this year’s Fourth of July parade.
Val is the very definition of community spirit. She embodies the idea that a town is more than just a location. It’s a family. From major festivals to small neighborhood gatherings, Val is a constant, reassuring presence, lending her time and energy to make Avalon a better place to live. She attends every city council meeting, is active with the library, film festival, women’s golf club, art festival and many other volunteer opportunities.
Her impact spans generations and interests, proving that a strong community is built on participation and heart. In honoring Val, the city hopes everyone realizes a simple but powerful message: Our future is defined by our involvement.
