Sheriff’s Log: Sept. 19 to Sept. 25, 2018

Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Sept. 19 to Sept. 25, 2018.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

September 19

• Deputies responded to the 300 block of Clarissa Avenue regarding a party call. The disturbing party agreed to turn down the music.

September 20

• Deputies arrested a juvenile for driving a vehicle with a suspended license in the 100 block of Sumner Avenue.

The juvenile was released to a family member.

• Two Harbors deputies handled a boat collision investigation near Ship Rock.

A 36 foot boat hit a rock causing it to take on water.

Isthmus Baywatch was able to get the boat and the occupant to safety.

September 21

• Deputies conducted an assault investigation in the 400 block of Crescent Avenue. A suspect assaulted two victims. Deputies have identified the suspect and an arrest is pending.

September 22

• Deputies arrested Michael Chagnon of Oceanside on suspicion of being drunk in public after he reportedly challenged others to fight in the 100 block of Catalina Avenue.

• Two Harbors deputies arrested Jay Lott of Santa Barbara on suspicion of driving a boat under the influence of alcohol. The arrest occurred at Isthmus Harbor.

• Deputies arrested Joseph Gurney of Sherman Oaks on suspicion of being drunk in public and suspicion of possessing cocaine at the Descanso Beach Club.

September 23

• Deputies arrested Lisa Bird of Laguna Beach on suspicion of domestic violence after she reportedly assaulted her boyfriend. The incident occurred on a 65-foot boat in Avalon Harbor.

• Deputies arrested Victoria Onley of Sherman Oaks on suspicion of being drunk after she resisted the deputies. The incident occurred at the Pleasure Pier.

September 24

• Deputies were notified that three suspects were trying to steal fuel from a golf cart near Bird Park. The deputies have identified the suspects and the investigation is ongoing.

September 25

• Two men came to the Avalon Sheriff’s Station, each to report that the other assaulted him. The incident occurred in the 200 block of Falls Canyon Road and involved throwing warm coffee and spitting.
