Sheriff’s log: October 21-27, 2015

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Oct. 21 to Oct. 27.

“It is important to note that no assumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the content of the information provided in this report,” said Capt. Doug Fetteroll, commander of the Station.  

“Many people who get arrested do not get convicted or even charged with crimes for which they have been arrested,” he said.

October 21

• At 2:20 a.m., Juan Garcia, 25, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of an alleged assault.

October 22

• At 4:55 p.m., Charles Nash, 45, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of an alleged assault.

• An Avalon resident reported vandalism to their property in the 100 block of Whitley Avenue.

October 23

• At 5:30 p.m., Jessica Lynch, 20, a resident of Indio, was arrested on suspicion of petty theft.

October 24

• At 3:30 p.m., Maria Casillas, 44, an Avalon resident, was placed under private persons arrest on suspicion of trespassing in the 200 block of Clarissa Avenue.

• At 5:05 p.m., Joel Roberts, 53, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of a controlled substance for the purpose of sales.

• At 8:05 p.m., Thomas Edwards, 30, a resident of Los Angeles, was placed under private persons arrest on suspicion of trespassing on board the Carnival Cruise Line.

October 25

• An Avalon resident reported the theft of music equipment from a storage locker on Pebbly Beach Road.

October 26

• No significant incidents.

October 27

• Deputies escorted McGruff the Crime Dog to Avalon Schools for Red Ribbon Week.

Halloween Night

On Halloween Night, the Sheriff’s Station will set up a table in front of Avalon Station for trick or treaters.  The table will be manned by deputies and station volunteers who will hand out candy to all the children who stop by.
