All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

March 17

• Deputies responded to a suspicious person call on the 100 block of Clarissa Avenue. The caller stated a man wearing a puffy jacket was lying on the floor near a business. The deputies contacted the man and made him aware of loitering and trespassing laws. The man told the deputies he was from overtown and had no way of returning home. The deputies gladly arranged for the man to depart on the first boat leaving Avalon. The man was appreciative of the deputies kindness and generosity.

March 18

• Deputies responded to a disturbance call at the Cabrillo Mole. The caller stated a man and woman were arguing at the location. The deputies arrived and were only able to locate the man. The man told the deputies he was arguing with his wife because she was not happy with his decision making. The man’s wife walked away when the deputies arrived and the husband boarded the boat and left the island to avoid any problems with his angry wife. There was no evidence of any crimes, unhappy spouse only.

• Avalon Station deputies wrote 5 fraudulent check reports from Avalon residents. Detective Meyers is currently investigating the cases and is in the process of authoring search warrants.
