The fol­low­­­ing is the Avalon Sheriff’s Sta­tion significant incidents report for the period of June 30 to July 6, 2022.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

June 30
• Deputies responded to the Casino regarding a male adult creating a disturbance.
The caller stated the man was yelling at people near the dive shop.
The deputies contacted the man and witnessed his unruly behavior.
They advised him it was inappropriate to curse around families and children.
The man left the location on his boat and was apologetic.
• Deputies responded to the 200 block of Clarissa Avenue regarding a golf cart collision.
The deputies conducted a traffic investigation and determined a vehicle driven by an adult driver collided with a parked golf cart.
A report was written.
• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Sumner Avenue regarding a disturbance involving a possible drunk man.
The deputies arrived and observed 2 males holding another man onto the ground.
The deputies detained all parties and conducted an investigation.
They came to the conclusion the man on the ground was drunk and challenging patrons and employees to fight.
The patrons detained the man and requested the Sheriff’s Department.
The deputies arrested the Jose Ruiz Cisneros, 37, of Avalon, on suspicion of being drunk in public.
He was booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

July 1
• Deputies responded to Bird Park regarding a rental golf cart driving recklessly.
The deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop on the golf cart and advised them of acceptable driving practices while on Catalina Island.

July 2
• Deputies responded to the 200 block of Crescent Avenue regarding a traffic collision with possible injuries.
The caller stated a passenger fell out of a golf cart and struck his head.
The deputies arrived and contacted the driver and passenger.
The passenger was treated for minor injuries and a traffic collision report was written.
• Deputies on foot patrol observed a disturbance at a restaurant/bar on Crescent Avenue.
The deputies contacted the owner and a patron who was acting disruptive.
The disturbing party left the establishment willingly.
• Deputies on foot patrol observed several adults involved in a scuffle outside the Chi Club.
The deputies observed 1 male arguing with the bouncer of the club so he shined his flashlight at the man to get his attention.
The man immediately walked over to the deputies Jeep and started emptying the contents of his pockets onto the hood of the vehicle.
The deputy initially told the man to gather his property until he noticed one of the items was a methamphetamine pipe.
The man was detained pending an alcohol/drug investigation.
Javier Zayas, 27, of Avalon, was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and being drunk in public.
He was booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

July 3
• Deputies responded to Sol Vista regarding a noise complaint.
The concerned party wanted to speak to deputies regarding noise in his complex.
The deputies contacted the man and determined the source of the noise was coming from a bird in a tree.
• Deputies responded to the storage containers on Pebbly Beach Road regarding persons sleeping and partying at the location.
Deputies arrived and contacted a man and woman who were organizing their property inside their storage unit.
There was no evidence they were partying or sleeping at the location.
• Deputies responded to a business disturbance on the 600 block of Crescent Avenue.
The caller stated a female adult was inside the location harassing customers and refusing to leave.
Upon arrival, the noticed the woman was swaying from side to side and was unable to stand without assistance.
They could also smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath.
Jeimi Ortega, 36, of Las Vegas, was arrested and booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of public intoxication.
• Deputies and the sergeant responded to a disturbance call at Crescent Avenue and Whittley Avenue.
Numerous callers stated a male adult was in the middle of the street yelling at people and hitting golf carts.
The deputies contacted the man and immediately recognized the signs of alcohol intoxication.
They conducted an investigation and arrested Damien Wright, 42, of Concord, on suspicion of being drunk in public.
He was booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

July 4
• Deputies responded to a disturbance call at the Isthmus Pier.
The caller stated there was a situation with a man arguing with his girlfriend.
The deputies arrested Robert Wilkins, 33, of Torrance, on suspicion of being drunk in public.
He was booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.
• Deputies responded to Descanso Beach Club regarding a disturbance involving a drunk female.
The caller stated the female was drunk and refusing to leave the bar.
The deputies located the female and found her sleeping in a chair.
They woke the woman and noticed she was extremely intoxicated.
Carlee Hoshowski, 29, of Long Beach, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public and booked at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

July 5
• Deputies responded to a business disturbance on the 100 block of Catalina Avenue.
The caller stated 2 males were arguing at the location. The deputies spoke to both men and counseled them regarding the argument. They left without incident.
• Deputies responded to a loud music call at Bahia Vista. The deputies contacted a male adult who turned his music down.

July 6
• Deputies responded to a suspicious person call on the 300 block of Sumner Avenue.
The caller stated a female adult was sitting on her front porch and she did not know the woman.
The deputies contacted the woman who stated she enjoyed the porch because of its prime sunbathing location.
