Sheriff’s Log: Dec. 23 to Dec. 29,, 2015

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Dec. 23 to Dec. 29.

Doug Fetteroll, commander of the Station.  “Many people who get arrested do not get convicted or even charged with crimes for which they have been arrested.”

December 23

• No significant incidents.

December 24

• Deputies responded to a residence in the 300 block of Tremont Street regarding a report of domestic violence.  The incident was non-criminal and the involved parties were counseled.

December 25

• Ronald Whitaker, 61, a beloved Avalon resident, was found deceased in his home of apparent natural causes.

December 26

• No significant incidents.

December 27

• No significant incidents.

December 28

• An Avalon resident reported his vehicle was stolen from the 200 block of Beacon Street.  The vehicle was found parked, partially over the side of the road, near the city dump.  Anyone with information regarding the theft of this vehicle is asked to call Detective Justin Martin at Avalon Station.   

December 29

• Public Safety Meeting—We appreciate those of you who took time out of your busy holiday schedules to attend this evening’s Public Safety meeting at City Hall.  For those that were unable to attend, we shared information regarding active shooter incidents, domestic and foreign terrorism, and the importance of reporting suspicious person(s) or activity.  If anyone would like more information on these topics, please contact Deputy Doug DeCesare at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.
