Museum is admission free on Sept. 24

One day each year, the Catalina Island Museum opens its doors free of charge to celebrate National Museum Day. Held in concert with Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live, this year’s celebration of National Museum Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Admission to the museum will be free the entire day.

One day each year, the Catalina Island Museum opens its doors free of charge to celebrate National Museum Day. Held in concert with Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live, this year’s celebration of National Museum Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Admission to the museum will be free the entire day.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission to the museum will be free of charge for the entire day. During this year’s National Museum Day celebration, members and guests will have the opportunity to experience the museum’s new Ada Blanche Wrigley Schreiner Building. New this year, the museum invites the entire community to “Meet and Greet” the new Executive Director, Julie Perlin Lee and numerous other new faces in Avalon. Special guests include: David Jenkins and Dan Huncke from the City of Avalon, Jason Paret and Dr. Aimee Warren from the Catalina Island Medical Center, Tony Budrovich from the Catalina Island Conservancy, Principal Chris Lounfbery from Avalon School, Cathy Miller from the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce and members of the museum’s Board of Trustees. The “Meet and Greet” will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on the museum’s second level.
