Lancers Headed to Semifinals

The Avalon boys’ volleyball team is headed to the CIF-SS Division 8 semifinals after a thrilling journey. They pulled off a major upset against Pacifica Christian of Santa Monica, the number two seed, followed by significant wins against large public schools Orange Vista and Alta Loma with 2500 plus student body. Despite being a small school with only 147 students, Avalon’s volleyball athletes have come together to achieve impressive results. Tonight’s win was led by standout performances from Jacob Mello with 13 kills, Erick Madriz with 10 kills, and Aaron Meza with 28 assists and freshman Santiago Noriz who led the defense with 33 digs. The team’s continued growth and dedication are truly inspiring. The Lancers will host Wildwood at 6 p.m. on Saturday, for a chance to play for the championship next weekend.
