The CIF-Southern Section recently released the All-CIF selections for eight-man football for the 2022 season. Among the honorees were several Avalon players, led by senior Francisco Arellano, who was voted MVP-Offense.
The Lancers had three players voted as First-Team All-CIF selections. They were all juniors this season; Jose Vasquez, Brandon Moreno and David Talsky. Sophomore Issac Rivas was among the Second Team All-CIF selections.
The Lancers were an at-large entry into the CIF playoffs but hit their stride and made a run to the CIF Finals before falling to Hesperia Christian and taking home the Runner-Up plaque. Hesperia Christian senior Kyle Day was selected as overall Division 2 MVP and they also had three players named to the First Team.
