
In memory of Swede and Marnice Foote, the 49th Annual Klondyke Klash Golf Tournament was contested at the Catalina Island Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16. One hundred and thirty two golfers making up twenty two 6-Man Teams, played as 2 threesomes over the weekend. One threesome playing on Saturday the other threesome on Sunday. The two scores were then combined for a team total.
At the conclusion of play on Sunday, there were two teams tied for 1st Place with a score of 56 or 8 under Par. Both six-man teams then proceeded to a 3-hole playoff where the winning team of Juanito Chavoya, Damien Pedroza, Tino Rodriguez, Sergio Tovar, Angel Hernandez and Don Diggins defeated the team of Rad Bowman, Mike Phillips, Zach Upton, Joel Phillips, Salvador Marron and Hoss Gonzales by 2 strokes to claim the 1st Place honors.
In 3rd Place with a score of 57 (-7) was Jorge Leyva, Ryan Saldana, Todd Hallenback, Alan Vega, James Laflin and Rueben Hernandez. Jorge Leyva and his 2 playing parters, Todd Hallenback and Alan Vega, also earned the Annual Swede & Marnice Foote Low 3-Man Team Award by shooting the lowest round of the weekend with an 8 Under Par score of 56 during Sunday’s play.
Closest to the Pin Awards went to Arturo Sanchez on Saturday and Fidel Rodriguez on Sunday.
The Awards ceremony after Sunday’s play was held at the picnic grounds where Ron Bevins and Francisco Bravo hosted a delicious Mexican food buffet.
