KAMP, a performing arts day camp experience—has just finished its first session to rave reviews.

On Friday, July 24 the KAMPers invited their families and the community out to watch their KAMP Showcase.

The audience was about 60 strong and super supportive of the groups newly-learned skills.

The Showcase highlighted what the KAMPers had been learning and developing in each of their classes.

The Mime, Mask and Movement class performed small play-lets.  Each performer wore a mask and developed their characters by using their entire bodies to portray characteristics and setting with the use of no words.

Not an easy task but the KAMPers succeeded with flying colors.  The Dance and Musical Theater classes shared a specialized dance routine, a hip-hop routine and Musical Theater numbers.

The morning group performed Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid and the afternoon group performed Can’t Stop the Beat from Hairspray.

They wore costumes they designed and built themselves in the Costume and Props class.

What an amazing experience each of these KAMPers had.

The instructors were all working professionals in the discipline in which they taught.

They imparted some valuable knowledge on our local youth.

Each KAMPer at the end of the Showcase read a letter that they had written about their experience.  It was heartwarming to hear the appreciation each of them had for their experience.

A second session of KAMP is now taking registration.

The next session will begin on Aug. 10 – Aug. 21, 2015.  Class space is limited so register early.  KAMP tuition for the two week session is $175 (all inclusive).

This sessions classes include: Improv and Theater Games, Storytelling through Voice and Costume and Props.
