The 32nd Annual ‘Just For The Halibut, Just For The Kids Tournament’ proudly raised over $15,000 in support of local youth programs. This achievement would not have been possible without the generous contributions of our sponsors and the steadfast support of local businesses.
The success of this event is a testament to the incredible spirit of our community. Time and again, you come together in meaningful ways, and we are deeply grateful for the way you showed up to support our youth.
Donations are being distributed to the following youth-focused organizations and programs: Rotary Interact Club, Catalina Island Women’s Forum Mentoring Program, Catalina Kid Ventures, PLAY Preschool, Dancers Quetzal, Grupo Baile, Catalina Island Pony Club, Avalon Kids Baseball for end of season Dodgers Game, Jazz Angels, Avalon Ocean Club and Bleu World.
This year’s event also marked the establishment of the inaugural Just For The Halibut Scholarship, awarded to Brandon Oceaguera in support of his studies in the Fire Science Program and EMT Course at Long Beach City College. Brandon’s goal is to return to Avalon and pursue a career with the Avalon Fire Department, bringing his training and dedication back to serve our community.
