In a must win league game, Avalon took on the St. Michaels Archangels last Saturday. Each week the Lancers are impressively getting stronger and that is what was shown during this league matchup. The Archangels came into this game with a strong 4-1 record and their focus was on beating the Lancers. St. Michaels has a strong running game which teams have had a very hard time stopping.

Avalon’s defense was well prepared for the Archangels and did not allow any momentum to be gained. Series after series the Lancers shut down St. Michaels and that was this games story. The Lancers defense as a whole was a nightmare for St. Michaels, from the rush of the Rios duo (Calvin and Diego), the pass defense of Jose Gomez and Beto Martinez to the Linebackers Jose Silva and DeAngelo Reyes, this defense was rolling.

Avalon’s offense once again was unstoppable, scoring 60 points and dominating this game. Jason Campos rushed for 4 touchdowns, while QB Jose Gomez had a great passing game, having multiple scores while TE Cristo Hernandez scored a 50+ yard TD.

“This team is rolling and focused” said head coach Michael Forcella.

Avalon takes to the road this week to play Calvary Chapel Downey on Saturday October 20th. This will be a league showdown from two strong teams.
