The final league game was played on a cold Thursday night. Bravo’s Landscaping took on Coyote Joe’s in the first game of the doubleheader. Coyote Joe’s got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first inning when Justin Hernandez opened up with a solo home run.
Two base hits later, and Chuy Sillas got three RBIs off his inside-the-park home run. Sebastian Gallegos followed with a double. Two more base hits brought home two more runs, for a total of six in the inning. Braov’s Landscaping got two runs off two base hits and a double from Pepe Carrillo in the top of the second.
Coyote Joe’s kept the pressure on and brought home another six runs in the bottom of the second. Chuy Sillas and Justin Hernandez had doubles, while Ron Bevins had a three RBI inside-the-park homer in the inning.
The third inning was more Coyote Joe’s, with two runs home off two base hits and a double from Ron Bevins. The fourth inning saw six more runs come home for Coyote Joe’s. They had eight base hits and a triple from Justin Hernandez. The fifth and final inning saw Bravo’s Landscaping add to their total. Five base hits, a walk, a double from Oscar Tejeda and triples from Robert Reyes and Pepe Carrillo brought home nine.
Time expired, and the game ended with the score Bravo’s Landscaping 13, Coyote Joe’s 20. With the win, Coyote Joe’s clinched the League Championship. Congratulations!
For Bravo Landscaping, Chris Arnold and Pepe Carrillo were 3-for-3. Robert Reyes also collected three hits. Oscar Tejeda had two hits, while Paul Daniel Romo, Tyler Engel, Diana Rios and Maria Reyes contributed one hit. For Coyote Joe’s, Juan De La Cruz was 4-for-4. Justin Hernandez also had four hits. Chuy Sillas, Sebastian Gallegos, Ron Bevins, Rachel Mc Cormick and Laura Priest all had three hits. Cathy Ponce contributed two hits.
Game two was between the Lobster Trap and Straight Up Builders. The Lobster Trap was up first and brought home a run on four hits. A nice relay from left center to short to Briana Morones at home caught Marisa Morones before she could score. Not a nice way to treat your sister Briana!
Straight Up Builders used two base hits and a double from Ryan Hinkley to score three. The Lobster Trap regained the lead in the second inning. Jonny Quarnstrom started it off with a double and scored. Four base hits brought home another run and had the bases loaded for J D Laflins inside-the-park Grand Slam.
Two more base hits brought home the seventh run of the inning. Straight Up Builders answered back with seven runs of their own. Briana Morones collected two RBIs off her triple. Two base hits and an error brought home a run, then Jose Octavo collected three RBIs off his inside-the-park home run. Two more base hits brought home the seventh run.
Straight Up Builders added two more runs to their lead in the third. Tino Rodriguez had a double in the effort. A solo inside-the-park home run from Ryan Hinkley added one more to Straight Up Builders total in the fourth.
The Lobster Trap got a run in the fifth off two base hits and a sacrifice fly. JD Laflin hit a double but was left stranded at second. Straight Up Builders kept the offense going and brought home four runs on four base hits and an error in the bottom of the fifth.
In the sixth and final inning, The Lobster Trap’s Sebastian Sanchez opened with a double. Three base hits brought home two runs. They fell short of the win with the game ending with the score The Lobster Trap 11, Straight Up Builders 17.
For the Lobster Trap, J D Laflin and Jonny Quarnstrom were 3-for-3. Kjell Hiniker, Sebastian Sanchez, Rolando Gonzalez, Brad Castle and Marisa Morones had two hits. Francisco Bravo, Joel Melendez and Toria Richards contributed one hit. For Straight Up Builders, Ryan Hinkley and Adrian Octavo were 3-for-3. Jim Hinkley, Jose Octavo, Bart Glass and Tino Rodriguez collected two hits. Billy Boyd, Margery Williams, Valeria Medina, Briana Morones and Betty Tejeda all had one hit.
