He starts job Feb. 1 of next year

The new Avalon city manager will start Feb. 1, 2022. The City Council this week unanimously approved a contract with David Maistros of Ohio.

The contract is for a three-year term at $125,000 a year plus a $5,000 relocation incentive, according to the staff report by City Attorney Scott Campbell.

The cost is in the city budget for fiscal year 2021-2022, according to the report.

The selection concluded the search for the successor to Denise Radde, who is going into retirement.

Radde told the council this week that there were 38 applicants for the position. The council narrowed the selection to 12 and then to four, according to Radde.

She said Maistros had accepted the position.

The vote was unanimous.
