Street Markings for Parking and No Parking Zones
The Public Works crew recently completed painting new autoette only parking spaces and red “No Parking” zones across from the medical center to improve traffic flow and access for emergency vehicles. This work also included new autoette and red curb markings along Avalon Canyon Terrace Road adjacent to the Sand Trap restaurant and horse stables. These updates help clarify parking regulations in the area and enhance overall public safety.
Sombrero Fountain Restoration
The Public Works crew has been hard at work restoring the Sombrero Fountain to its original function as a working water fountain. Over the past couple of weeks, staff have been meticulously grinding away layers of old, deteriorated paint in preparation for repairs. With the surface now prepped, the team has moved on to painting the interior, performing necessary plumbing work, and forming new holes to allow proper water flow. If progress continues as planned, we hope to have the fountain fully operational by early August.
Asphalt Patching Near Conservancy Trailhead
The Public Works crew recently performed asphalt patching near the Conservancy Trailhead building. This area experiences heavy pedestrian traffic, making the repairs especially important for public safety and accessibility. Crews removed damaged pavement and placed fresh asphalt to create a smooth, even surface. These efforts are part of a broader citywide asphalt maintenance program, with pothole/asphalt repairs scheduled to continue in various areas throughout town on a weekly basis over the next several months. Stay tuned for further updates.
Network Cabling Training
This past week, Public Works staff participated in a hands-on network cabling training session to strengthen internal technical capabilities. Michael Dailey coordinated the session and brought in Tom Chambers from Coast Communications, a trusted expert in the field, to lead the training. Eduardo Garcia represented the department and actively participated in the workshop. The training covered proper cabling techniques, troubleshooting basics, and best practices for network infrastructure, including identifying cable types, terminating connectors, and understanding common network layouts.
