In Saturday’s league match, the Avalon Lancers football squad scored a big 81-6 victory over the Lutheran Trojans.
This makes them 1-0 in their league and 6-0 on the season as they have outscored their opponents 407-18.
The Lancers offense was led by senior quarterback Jerod Long who was an impressive 8/10 on his passes and threw for 135 yards with two touchdowns. Senior running back Jose Silva had a great game with three touchdowns, running for 111 yards and received for 62 yards.

Avalon’s defense had its best game of the season so far. Senior cornerback Jason Cisneros had three interceptions against the Trojans, retuning one for a touchdown and linebacker Jerod Long also had an interception that he scored off of.
Avalon had a total of 13 sacks this game and eight of them came from senior defensive end Harrison Hobbs who also led the defense with nine tackles. Harrison Hobbs is currently ranked No. 1 for sacks in California for all of 11-man and eight-man football and he is ranked No. 9 in the nation.
Tonight, Friday, Oct. 23, the Lancers will be traveling to Silverado for their next matchup against the St. Michaels Archangels. This will be their second league game and Avalon looks to continue its route to a perfect season.
