The 2025 boys high school golf season has begun and in their first match of the season the Lancers competed against San Juan Hills, a top ranked team, at home on Thursday, Feb. 27. The Lancers turned in a good team score of 190 for 9 holes but that was not good enough to beat San Juan Hills who had a 175 team score.
Avalon Seniors Jose Pedroza and Jacob Mello were the leaders for the Lancers on this day each scoring a 3 over par 35. Sophomore Eduardo Zavala turned in a nice 37 as well, while Aaron Meza scored a 41 and Senior Chris Gonzalez scored a 44 in his first match as a high school golfer. This is a brand new team, and shows the potential to compete well in league play which starts in a month. Senior Uriel Gonzalez and Freshmen Cristian Montalban are our other two players who are certain to help us in our future matches.
Our entire team is preparing to compete in our local Junior Golf Tournament on the weekend of April 5-6 and hope to represent our town in fine fashion. Stay tuned for future golf news as we enter the main part of our season.
