The weekend of Dec. 5-8 was very busy for our Avalon Lancers.
Friday morning, Lancers transferred 120 Christmas trees, wreaths, and garland from the delivery truck to a container provided by Avalon Freight Services.
Saturday morning dawned bright and early with the Lancers’ junior parents setting up for a pancake breakfast fundraiser while junior boys and Avalon Fire Department offloaded the container and helped get the lot set up for distribution.
Eighth-grade students sold hot chocolate or hot apple cider. Santa and even the Grinch came up to have breakfast and to have their picture taken with children of all ages until noon.
Then the Lancers transitioned down to Front Street where Lancers 8th grade sold cotton candy and churros and the juniors offered limited See’s Candy available for sale.
See’s Candy can still be purchased and taken with you through the Catalina Art Association shop in the Spa.
They stayed until the Christmas tree lighting ceremony and then closed up shop for the evening.
Monday brought the annual Elementary Winter Concert at the Casino.
The elementary choir and instrumentalists performed as did every elementary classroom. Eighth-grade students sold refreshments outside of the Casino to raise funds for the end-of-the-year trip to Knott’s Berry Farm.
The Avalon Lancer family would like to wish everyone a Happy Holidays.
