August 2025 visitor counts up by 1.9%

The August 2025 visitor count increase 1.9% from August 2025, according to data recently released by Love Catalina Island Tourism Authority.

“August’s total arrival count was above the three, five and ten-year averages by 8.4%, 14.2% and 19.7% respectively. Cross Channel Counts above include 5,128 arrivals at Two Harbors this year and 4,948 last year,” according to the Love Catalina website.

“August 2025 had the highest number of total visitor arrivals @ 155,432,” according to the website.

“August 2020 had the lowest number of total visitor arrivals @ 78,958,” according to the website.

“Passengers arriving by sea in August totaled 151,567, up by 2.0% for the month compared to last year,” according to the website.

“August Cross Channel Passenger counts were above the three, five and ten-year averages by 7.5%, 9.9% and 13.9% respectively,” according to Love Catlaina.

“Cross Channel Passengers made up 68.61% of total monthly arrivals,” according to Love Catlaina.

“Cruise passenger counts totaled 35,078, up from 31,333 last year by 12.0% or 3,745 visitors,” according to Love Catlaina.

“2025 had the highest Cruise Passenger volume for the month @ 35,078,” according to Love Catlaina.

“August Cruise Passenger counts were above the three, five and ten-year averages by 13.3%, 38.3% and 59.0% respectively,” the website said.

“Cruise Passengers made up 22.57% of total monthly arrivals,” the website said.

“The number of Cruise Ships calling on Avalon in August was 9,” the website said.

“2016 had the highest number of ships calling @ 11,” the website said.

“August typically has 10 ships call,” the website said.

“Private Boater Passenger counts totaled 9,844, down 2.7% or by 272 people from last year,” according to the Love Catalina website.

“August Private Boater Passenger counts were above the three-year total by 3.0%, even with the five-year average and below the ten-year year average by 1.28%,” according to the Love Catalina website.

“Private Boaters made up 6.33% of total monthly arrivals,” according to the Love Catalina website.

“August’s number of Vessels Anchored was down by 56.2% @ 102 vs. 233,” according to the Love Catalina website.

“August’s number of Vessels on Moorings was 2,461, down 2.7% from last year,” according to the Love Catalina.

“August was above the three-year average by 3.0%, even with the five-year average and below the ten-year average,” according to the Love Catalina.

“Combined in-bound air passenger counts for August totaled 3,909, up by 1.7% from 3,843 in 2024,” the website said.

“Private Aircraft Passengers (Airport in the Sky) totaled 2,049, down 9.2% vs. last year’s total of 2,256,” the website said.

“Private Aircraft Passengers made up 1.32% of total monthly arrivals,” the website said.

“Helicopter Passenger counts totaled 1,816, up year-over-year by 15.4% from 1,573 in 2024,” the website said.

“Helicopter Passenger counts were above the three and five-year averages by 13.5% and 1.7% respectively, but below the ten-year average by 11.0%,” according to the Love Catalina website.

Helicopter Passengers made up 1.17% of total monthly arrivals,” according to the Love Catalina website.
