The Avalon boys varsity basketball team started its 2025-2026 season against a talented Alumni squad. The Lancers showed potential for future successes on the hardcourt but couldn’t keep up with the old guys in this one and lost 80-64.
Senior Erick Madriz and freshmen Elijah Hernandez and Caidon Hall led the way for the Lancers. Madriz was dominant in the paint while Hernandez was draining three-pointers from afar and Hall was driving hard to the basket. Freshmen Miguel Murillo and Allen Tamayo and junior Brandon Tejeda all provided quality play as well.
Three days after the Alumni Game the Lancers headed to the mainland to officially open up their season against Newport Christian. The Lancers competed well throughout the contest but came up short in the end by a score of 62-54. Erick Madriz, Elijah Hernandez, Caidon Hall, Miguel Murillo, Jackson Garcia and Brandon Tejeda all contributed in positive ways.
Although the Lancers came up short against Newport Christian they competed well and showed that they have the potential to improve and become a successful team.
