The Avalon Boys Volleyball team hosted Fairmont Prep on Friday night, sweeping the match by the scores 25-9, 25-18, 25-3. They were led by Sophomore Outside Hitter Adalberto Martinez who had 23 kills, 6 aces, 7 receives, 8 digs and 2 blocks.
Junior setter Dominic Hernandez had 35 assists. In the second match, the Lancers swept the Huskies by scores of 25-16, 25-6, 25-14. The Lancers were once again led by Adalberto Martinez who had a season-high 28 kills, 7 aces, 10 receives and 9 digs. Junior Daniel Silva had 4 kills, 2 aces, 7 receives and 7 digs. Diego Rios had 10 aces.
On Saturday Avalon traveled to San Juan Capistrano to take on Capistrano Valley Christian in a battle for second place in the Academy League. The Avalon Lancers won the first match in 3 straight with scores of 26-24, 25-16, 25-21. The Lancers were led by Adalberto Martinez who had 17 kills, 3 blocks, 2 aces, 16 digs and 11 receives. Middle Blocker Allen Arneson had 5 kills and 1 block. Setter Dominic had 30 assists. In the second match the Lancers won in 4 sets with scores of 25-16, 25-22, 14-25, 25-14. Once again, they were led by Adalberto Martinez with 21 kills, 2 blocks, 3 aces, 22 digs, and 15 serve receives. Setter Dominic Hernandez had 36 assists. Danny Silva had 7 kills, 18 digs and 16 serve receives.
