On Wednesday, April 28 four Avalon Lancer golfers traveled to Long Beach to compete in the San Joaquin League Prelims at Recreation Park Golf Course; senior Eduardo Zavala, junior Andrew Cruz, sophomore Cristian Montalban, and freshman Miguel Murillo. The day began with 26 golfers and cut to 16 after the first round. Zavala and Montalban both shot an 83 over 18 holes and made the cut by one stroke.
The following day Zavala and Montalban traveled to Long Beach once again, this time to play at Skylinks Golf Course. The greens were extremely fast and difficult. Cristian Montalban was our best golfer on this day finishing with a nice 81 and a 12th Place finish.
All in all, it was a great experience for the four golfers and served notice that Avalon Golf is on the rise once again and has hopes of returning to the CIF-SS Playoffs next year. Thanks to the Avalon Golf Course for their extreme generosity and to all the individuals who support our program. We live in a town with many generous people and our local youth benefit greatly from that generosity.
