This past weekend there were three important championship games for the older girls. It was the Sparks versus Mercury and it was a good fought hard battle but the sparks came out on fire with a 13 to 4 lead at the end of the first.
In the second quarter Mercury stepped it up only going down into halftime 20-11. Stephanie Martinez score 10 of the 11 points for Mercury and kept her team in the game.

The leaders in that game for the Sparks were Madeline Hiniker with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists. Brenda Padilla had 8 points, 10 rebounds, 6 blocked shots. An award ceremony was done after the game and the Sparks having a 9-3 record won 1st place.
In the second championship game the Orangemen defeated the Blue Devils with a very close score. Pablo Chavolla and Cristo Hernandez were both awarded Most Inspirational, Sebastian Gallegos was named Most Improved, and Bryan Martinez was named the Hickey Rohlik MVP! But in the last and final championship game it was the Dream vs Liberty who were both 8-1 coming into this game and had earned a spot in the championship.
Liberty had a great game sinking every shot almost and playing great defense.
Lucy Lopez led the way scoring 9 baskets 18 points getting 13 rebounds. Jazlin Chavolla was also big with her rebounding and shooting.
The Dream came up short but not for lack of effort. Vicky Soto had a great season for the Dream scoring all 10 points and being a great team player. The awards were given and the Most Improved Player was Jazlin Chavolla.
Most Inspirational Player Hannah Hoefs who was the most aggressive player this season would fight for any ball even if it mean getting on the floor she was very fun to watch and helped her team have a great season. The Most Valuable Player was Lucy Lopez who is a 4th grader and scored over 100 points and over 100 rebounds this season! What a great season to everyone!
