A personal appeal by Kevin Huncke to the Catalina Island Yacht Club Foundation board drew the final funding to reach their monetary goal of remodeling the Avalon Teen Center facility.
Work immediately began with new furniture, flooring,repairs, and painting on the upgrade list.
“The Teen Center provides a place local youth can call their own as was evidenced by the large turnout to help with the remodeling,” said Dan Huncke, sirector of Community Services.
Other organizations donating to the project were the Catalina Island Foundation, the Lions Club, Caleb Lins, and an anonymous donor.
