Women golfers name club champion for 2013

The Catalina Island Women’s Golf Club held its Annual Championship Tournament on Thursday, April 11, including divisions for both 18 holes and for nine holes.

As winner of the low-gross category for 18 holes, club member  Cathy Sweeney has earned the title of Club Champion for this year.

As winner of the low-gross category for 18 holes, club member  Cathy Sweeney has earned the title of Club Champion for this year.

Other winners include Elena Maria, first place low-net in the 18 hole division; Alison Osinski, first place low-gross in the nine hole division; and Val Schafer, first place low-net in the nine hole division.  Awards were given out at a luncheon held at Steve’s Steakhouse immediately following the tournament.

The low-gross winners, Cathy Sweeney and Alison Osinski, will have their names engraved on the perpetual trophies that are on display at the Catalina Country Club.

The Catalina Island Women’s Golf Club meets each Thursday morning at the Country Club pro-shop to arrange teams and learn about the game of the day. All women golfers, Islanders and visitors, are welcome to come and play.
