Softball: Hamilton Cove RE, Catalina Realtors, Express get wins

Week two of Catalina Co-Ed Softball League featured Coyote Joes and Hamilton Cove Real Estate in game one. Gilbert Hernandez opened the game for Coyote Joe’s with a double and later scored. Julian Tejeda made a great catch to rob Hugh Bevins of a hit. Hamilton Cove took the momentum into the bottom of the inning with an opening triple from Julian Tejeda, followed by a double from Gabriel Alvarado. A walk was followed by the three RBI homerun from Nick Morones. A total of four came home.

Coyote Joe’s took the lead in the second inning with five runs off five base hits and a triple from Hugh Bevins. The lead switched back to Hamilton Cove Real Estate in the bottom of the inning with three runs off four base hits, a double from Marisa Morones and a two RBI home run from Nick Morones. Gustavo Gutierrez made the great snag of a hard hit line drive from Gabriel Alvarado to end the inning.

Hamilton Cove Real Estate brought home another run in the third when Nick Morones hit a triple and later scored. Coyote Joe’s Nestor Cubillas hit an RBI double in the fourth. Hamilton Cove Real Estate answered with the solo homerun from Julian Tejeda. Time expired in the fifth inning with the score Coyote Joe’s 7, Hamilton Cove Real Estate 9.

For Coyote Joe’s Francisco Bravo, Ron Bevins and Elias Romero were two for two. Gilbert Hernandez, Hugh Bevins, Gustavo Gutierrez, Nestor Cubillas, Diana Rios and Tiffany Credel all contributed one hit.

For Hamilton Cove Real Estate Nick Morones was four for four. Gabriel Alvarado had three hits. Julian Tejeda and Marisa Morones contributed two hits. Rigo Pedroza, Julio Chavoya and Angelyna Rivera-Cantrell collected one hit.

Catalina Realtors took on Straight Up Builders in game two. Catalina Realtors was up first and J.D. Laflin started things off with a double and later scored. Straight Up Builders answered with an RBI double from Juan Hernandez who scored also. In the second inning Selina Morones made a great catch at second to deny Ryan Adkins the base hit. Straight Up Builders added to their lead with a run off two base hits and a double from Juan Hernandez.

Catalina Realtors took the lead in the fourth with three runs off three base hits, a walk and an error. Straight Up Builders tied it up in the bottom of the inning with the solo home run from Brandon Franco. Catalina Realtors’ Jimmy Felix III hit a solo home run in the fifth. In the sixth inning Catalina Realtors put four more runs on the board off a base hit, a triple from J.D. Laflin, a double from Robert Reyes and a three RBI home run from Anthony Hernandez. Straight Up Builders had chances in the sixth and seventh inning, but couldn’t bring a run home. The game ended with the score Straight Up Builders 4, Catalina Realtors 9.

For Straight Up Builders Chuy Sillas, Juan Hernandez, Weston Leonhardi and Briana Morones had two hits. Brandon Franco, Kyle Ostentoski and Selina Morones contributed one hit.

For Catalina Realtors, Robert Reyes and Alex Romero were three for three. J.D. Laflin, Anthony Hernandez, Jim Felix III and Aimee Casillas collected two hits. Ryan Adkins and Rachel Mc Cormick had one hit.

The final game of the night was between Catalina Express and Bravo’s Landscaping. Catalina Express was ready to play and rallied around the order with six base hits, doubles from Luis Lazaro, Leo Aguilar and Enrique Bravo, and a triple from Jose Octavo along with a few errors to bring home a total of eleven.

In the bottom of the inning Melissa Schafer scored before the pickle tag to score the only run for Bravo’s Landscaping. Catalina Express added another run in the second from the solo inside the park home run from Leo Aguilar. Bravo’s Landscaping had a walk, three base hits, a double from Jose Merino and a three RBI homerun from Justin Hernandez to bring home a total of five.

The third inning saw Catalina Express put up three more runs off a double from Enrique Bravo a base hit and an error. Bravo’s Landscaping kept pace with three runs in the bottom of the inning off three base hits and a two RBI homerun from Justin Hernandez. In the bottom of the fifth and final inning Bravo’s Landscaping had two runs home off a walk and doubles from Sebastian Sanchez and Uriel Castillo before Marco Gallegos made a great stop and throw from his knees to collect the third out. The game ended with the score Bravo’s Landscaping 11, Catalina Express 18.

For Bravo’s Landscaping Uriel Castillo was three for three. Justin Hernandez, Sebastian Sanchez, Jose Merino and Melissa Schafer contributed two hits. Tino Rodriguez and Apples Carrillo had one hit.

For Catalina Express Jose Octavo was three for three. Margery Williams also had three hits. Marco Gallegos, Luis Lazaro, Leo Agilar, Enrique Bravo and Stephanie Martinez collected two hits. Paul Daniel Romo had one hit.
