Sheriff’s Log: Sept. 21 to Sept. 27, 2023

The following is the Avalon’s Sheriff’s Stations significant incidents report for the period of Sept. 21 to Sept. 27, 2023.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

September 21

  • Deputies responded to a disturbance call at the Mole. The caller stated there were 4 men on the boat who were drunk and refusing to leave. The deputies entered the boat and contacted the men. The men were advised they would not be departing on the boat and were escorted off. The men were cooperative and left to find a hotel for the evening.

September 22

  • Deputies responded to a disturbance call on Crescent Avenue. The caller stated a man and woman were arguing at the location. The deputies contacted the feuding couple and asked why they were arguing. The woman stated she was upset because other women were hitting on her boyfriend. There was no evidence of any crime other than a bit of jealousy. The couple reconciled and left the location hand in hand.

September 23

  • Deputies responded to a loud music call on Upper Terrace. The deputies arrived and discovered a wedding reception had just finished and the music was turned off. The newlyweds left and were off enjoying the town.

September 24

  • Deputies responded to a loud music call on Metropole Avenue. The caller stated loud music was being played at the house across the street. The deputies contacted a woman at the location who was very cooperative and turned the music off.

September 25

  • Deputies responded to a business disturbance on the 600 block of Crescent Avenue. The caller stated a customer was refusing to return his rental golf cart. The deputies contacted the customer who was assisted by the company’s corporate office. The man returned his cart without incident.

September 26

  • Deputies were contacted at the Sheriff’s Station by a local man who was complaining of a headache. The man was given a bottle of water and some Advil. The man was extremely happy with how nice the deputies were to him.
