Sheriff’s Log: published Oct. 25, 2019

Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Oct. 16 to Oct. 22, 2019. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

October 16

• Deputies are conducting an investigation regarding a suspect who allegedly violated a restraining order. A criminal report was written and the case will be presented to the District Attorney for filing consideration.

October 17

• Deputies participated in the Great Shakeout Earthquake drill. The Avalon Sheriff’s Station had a tabletop exercise preparing Sheriff’s Department personnel for a large scale earthquake. Deputy personnel also met with the Red Cross who was hosting a training session for Red Cross volunteers.

• Deputies responded to the 110 block of Sumner Avenue regarding a fight. When the deputies arrived, three individuals were fighting. Deputies broke up the fight. None of the individuals were desirous of prosecution.

October 18

• Deputies received a call in the 300 block of Tremont Street regarding a theft. Someone stole $205 and a watch from the residence. The investigation is ongoing.

October 19

• Deputies received a call of a missing person that was last seen near Third Street and Descanso Avenue. Deputies searched for the missing person and located her on “Front Street.”

October 20

• Deputies received a call from someone that lost her wallet while at the Casino. The wallet was described as a black wallet with a brass colored key attached to the outside of it.

October 21

• Deputies were called to the 300 block of Whittley Avenue regarding a keep the peace call, while an ex-girlfriend picked up her belongings from her ex-boyfriend. Everything went peacefully.

October 22

• Deputies were called to Beacon Street and Sumner Avenue regarding a person acting suspiciously. Deputies contacted a female adult who was taking items from the front yard of the residence. It turned out the female had permission to take the items. No criminal laws were violated.

Never give anyone the passwords to any of your accounts. Make sure you change your passwords occasionally and choose a password that is difficult for someone to guess.
