Avalon Sheriff's Station.

The following is the Avalon’s Sheriff’s Stations significant incidents report for the period of Oct. 10 to Oct. 16, 2024. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

October 11

  • Deputies responded to a hotel on Crescent Avenue. The caller stated her purse and money were taken from her hotel room. The deputies spoke to the woman who stated she left her purse along with cash inside her hotel room while spent the evening enjoying Jazztrax. When she returned, she was unable to locate her purse which she said she left on the dresser. The deputies looked at video surveillance and were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

October 13

  • Deputies responded to Clarissa Avenue for a disturbance call. The caller stated 2 adults were drunk and being loud in the street. The deputies contacted the disturbing parties and determined they were just being helpful neighbors. They assisted a man into his home and there was no evidence of any crime.
  • Deputies conducted a patrol check at the radio station due to recent reports of transients possibly living nearby. The location and its surroundings were clear of any evidence of trespassers or transients.

October 14

  • Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a business on Crescent Avenue. The caller stated a male customer was yelling at employees. The employees kept their cool and did not let the man’s ridiculous behavior frazzle them. The man left the location before deputies arrived and the employees did not want to waste any time on him.
  • Deputies, the fire departments and search and rescue responded to a man stuck on the hillside at “Burrito Point”. The man was safely rescued from the hillside and not injured. When deputies interviewed the man, he said he was new to hiking and wanted to push his limits on every adventure. I’m pretty sure he discovered his limits.

October 15

  • Deputies responded to Whittley Avenue regarding loud music. The caller stated loud music was being played in the area and it was almost 3 in the morning. The deputies drove down the street and their mere presence was enough to have the music immediately silenced.
