Sheriff’s Log: Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, 2018

Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, 2018. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

November 28

• Deputies arrested Quillan Lopez of Avalon on suspicion of possessing heroin, trespassing in a residence, and being under the influence of heroin.

• During the same incident, deputies also arrested Brenda Cabrera of Long Beach on suspicion of being under the influence of heroin, possessing narcotic paraphernalia (syringes), and trespassing in a residence. The arrests occurred in the 200 block of Sumner Avenue.

November 29

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Metropole Avenue regarding a male refusing to leave a business. Deputies contacted the male and determined he did not violate any laws.

The male left the location without incident.

November 30

• The Avalon Court Judge remanded Lucy Gonzalez of Avalon into custody for not complying with her court requirements from a past arrest.

Deputies took custody of Gonzalez and booked her at Avalon Sheriff’s Station.

December 1

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Metropole Avenue regarding a disturbance. Jonathan Torres of Avalon was arrested on suspicion of vandalism after he allegedly damaged a television, and violated a court order.

• Deputies arrested/detained a juvenile for allegedly possessing marijuana at 100 Saint Catherine Way.

The juvenile was taken to the Sheriff’s Station and released to his parents.

He will have a court date in the near future.

December 2

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Clarissa Avenue regarding Charles Petrie threatening someone with a hatchet.

There were no injuries.

The case will be presented to the District Attorney for filing consideration.

December 3

• Deputies responded to the 300 block of Clarissa Avenue regarding someone who removed a headlight from a golf cart.

The investigation is ongoing.

December 4

• Deputies responded to the 800 block of Country Club Drive regarding a boyfriend and girlfriend involved in an argument. Deputies resolved the argument and determined no crimes occurred.

Ultimately, the criminals keep the money.
