Sheriff’s Log: Nov. 25-Dec. 2

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Nov. 25 to Dec. 2. “It is important to note that no assumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the content of the information provided in this report.  Many people who get arrested do not get convicted or even charged with crimes for which they have been arrested,” said Capt. Doug Fetteroll, commander of the Station.

November 25

November 25

• A business on Dump Road was burglarized and several personal items were stolen. A resident of Two Harbors was reportedly assaulted by a friend after confronting her about urinating on the living room floor of her mobile home.  Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the incident.

November 26

• An Avalon resident reported that personal items were stolen from his unlocked vehicle last week while it was parked in the 300 block of East Whitley Avenue.

November 27

 • An Avalon resident reported her windshield was broken by vandals while it was parked on Renton Mine Road at Wrigley Terrace Road.

November 28

 • At 3:25 a.m., Laura Tocheny, 31, a resident of Washington, was arrested for assault.

 

November 29

 • At 10:30 p.m., Andrew Hodgson, 33, a resident of Oxford, England and Bradley Sussex, 25, resident of Tredegar Wales, were arrested for being drunk in public.

November 30

 • A female adult visitor was injured when she fell off her bicycle on Avalon Canyon Road.  She was transported over town for treatment of her injuries.

 

December 1

 • No significant incidents.

 

December 2

Deputies conducted a crosswalk safety operation in front of the Vons Market on Metropole Avenue.  

The intent of the operation was not to cite motorists, but to promote safe driving practices in this area and throughout the city.

During the two-hour operation, every motorist who drove through the crosswalk was alert and considerate of pedestrians in the area, two drivers received warnings to better secure their children, three pedestrians were advised to use the crosswalk, no citations were issued and four drivers received rewards for a free ice crea.m. at Lloyds of Avalon for exemplary driving.

Golf carts

For the third week in a row, no golf carts were reported stolen.  Reminder – Anyone with information regarding the taking of another person’s golf cart, is encouraged to notify the detectives at the Avalon Sheriff’s Station. Under California Law, it is a felony to “Joyride” and prosecution will be sought.
