Sheriff’s Log: Nov. 14-20, 2018

Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Nov. 14 to Nov. 20, 2018. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

November 14

• Deputies responded to a burglary alarm call in the 200 block of Falls Canyon Road. Deputies determined the alarm had malfunctioned.

November 15

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Sumner Avenue regarding a disturbance. Two males were arguing. Deputies determined no crimes were violated.

November 16

• Deputies continue to make patrol checks at Hogsback Gate and Three Palms regarding illegal drinking, narcotic use, and littering. It is illegal to party in these areas.

November 18

• Deputies arrested David Rodriguez of Avalon on suspicion of being under the influence of narcotics and possession of two narcotic smoking pipes. Deputies also arrested Alicia Castro of Avalon on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine. Both arrests occurred in the 700 block of Crescent Avenue.

November 19

• Deputies conducted a crosswalk surveillance on Metropole Avenue in front of Vons. Remember to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. This is a busy street with numerous pedestrians crossing.

November 20

• Deputies and the fire departments responded to the 400 block of Crescent Avenue regarding a 47-year-old woman from Mesa, Arizona having a medical emergency. The woman died of apparent natural causes.

Safety Note

The Sheriff’s Department is continuing to receive complaints about people drinking and using drugs at Three Palms and Hogsback Gate. We continue to issue citations and make arrests in these areas.

Remember it is illegal to drink alcohol in these areas.
