  • Deputies responded to Crescent and Metropole for a family disturbance call. The caller stated a man and woman were arguing and it appeared to be getting heated. The deputies responded and were unable to locate the feuding couple. This might be an example of cooler heads prevailing.
  • A sergeant on patrol was driving down Sumner Avenue when he saw a golf cart immediately stop in the roadway. The vehicle stopped for no apparent reason, almost causing a collision. The driver was issued a ticket for unsafe stopping.

July 5

  • Deputies responded to Middle Terrace for a disturbance call. The caller stated there was loud music being played and several people were arguing. The deputies contacted the renters and told them Middle Terrace was a quiet street and their behavior would not be tolerated by neighbors. There were no further calls for service at the home.

July 6

  • Deputies responded to a hotel room on Metropole Avenue for a domestic violence call. The caller stated she was assaulted by her boyfriend who had left the location. The deputies arrived and spoke to the victim. They recognized the victim as the same woman who was assaulted 3 days earlier and was again allegedly assaulted by the same suspect. The victim said she was assaulted by her boyfriend inside the hotel room and he fled the location. A short time later, a deputy located the suspect on Front Street and arrested him on suspicion of domestic violence. Whitman Drake, 24, of Oklahoma, was again booked at Avalon Station.
  • Deputies responded to a fight call on Crescent Avenue. They located the disturbing parties who were not fighting and only yelling at each other. While separating the two men they determined one of the men was extremely intoxicated. The man displayed objective symptoms of being drunk and had no one to care for him. Luis Tamayo, 40, of Avalon, was arrested and booked at Avalon Station on suspicion of being drunk in public.
  • Deputies responded to a disturbance call on Crescent Avenue. The caller stated a local, male resident was harassing employees at the location.

When deputies arrived, the disturbing party had already fled the location. Detectives know the disturbing party and will be reviewing video footage to determine if any crimes were committed. They will also be talking to the alleged harasser.

July 7

  • Deputies responded to a home on Clarissa Avenue to assist some visitors who had locked themselves out of their rental.

The deputies located the people who had locked themselves in the patio area. The deputies came to the rescue and freed them from captivity.

This gives life to the meaning, prisoner in my own home.
