SHERIFF’S LOG July 17-19 to July 23-19

July 17

• Deputies issued two motorists citations for failing to stop at stop signs.  One occurred at Beacon Street and Sumner Avenue, the other at Beacon Street and Catalina Avenue.

July 18

• Deputies arrested Vincent Munoz of Avalon on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possessing narcotic paraphernalia near Tremont Street and Eucalyptus Avenue.

• Deputies and the fire departments responded to Chimes Tower Road when a motorcyclist was traveling too fast and crashed.  He was transported to the hospital with minor abrasions.  Alcohol did not play a part in this collision and the driver was wearing a helmet.

July 19

• Deputies arrested Guillermo Nava of Avalon on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of narcotic paraphernalia near 30 Casino Way.

July 20

• Deputies and first responders responded to a capsized 22-foot boat near Ben Weston Beach on the backside of the island.  The boat was taking on water when the two men on the boat swam to shore.  There were no injuries.  The owner is working on having the boat removed from the shoreline.

• Deputies arrested Jessica Simental of Temecula on suspicion of domestic violence assault near “Lover’s Cove” on Pebbly Beach Road.

July 21

• Two Harbors deputies arrested Peter Revello of Two Harbors for domestic violence assault at 1 Banning House Road, Catalina.

• Deputies and the fire departments responded to Tremont Street regarding a person not breathing.  Upon their arrival, they learned the 81-year-old resident passed away due to natural causes.

• Deputies from Two Harbors arrested Ryan Hughes of Santa Ana on suspicion of being drunk in public.  The suspect was arrested on the Two Harbors Pier.  The suspect was uncooperative with law enforcement. 

• Deputies responded to the 200 block of Metropole Avenue regarding a vandalism call.  Someone wrote graffiti on the door frame of the location.  The investigation is ongoing.

July 22

• Deputies received a call of a missing golf cart on Falls Canyon Road.  Deputies located the golf cart nearby and notified the owner.  By the time the owner got to the golf cart, it was missing again.  Deputies again located the golf cart in the 100 block of Clarissa Avenue.  The golf cart was then returned to the owner.

July 23

• Deputies and both fire departments trained together on an active shooter training scenario.  All three agencies working together to keep our community safe.

• Deputies and first responders received a call of a lost scuba diver at the Dive Park near the Casino.  After a 15 minute search, the missing scuba diver was located safe.  She had wondered off from her scuba partner.
