Sheriff’s Log: Jan. 31 to Feb. 6, 2018

Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Jan. 31, 2018 to Feb. 6, 2018.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

January 31

• Deputies received a call in the 718 block of Crescent Avenue regarding someone trying to steal a golf cart. The investigation is ongoing.

February 1

• No significant incidents

February 2

• Deputies responded to a fight call in the 120 block of Sumner Avenue. Deputies arrested a female Avalon resident on suspicion of battery, and being drunk in public.

February 3

• Deputies were called to the 888 block of Canyon Club Drive regarding a spousal assault. Deputies forced entry into the room and arrested Scott Stoker, of Dana Point, on suspicion of assaulting his wife, causing an injury.

February 5

• Deputies responded to a traffic collision on Third Street and Catalina Avenue. A tour bus and a vehicle were involved in slow speed collision. One party complained of a minor injury.

February 5

• No significant incidents

February 6

• Deputies and the fire department responded to the Atwater Hotel on Sumner Avenue regarding a fire alarm. The alarm was accidently activated by construction workers.

Safety Note

When parking in Avalon, please pay attention to curb markings and street signs. You cannot park in the red, even though you are sitting in your vehicle.
