Sheriff’s Log: Feb. 24 to March 2, 2022

Editor’s note: The fol­low­­­ing is the Avalon Sheriff’s Sta­tion significant incidents report for the period of Feb. 24 to March 2, 2022.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

February 24

• Deputies responded to a loud music disturbance call on Marilla Avenue. The deputies checked the surrounding areas and were unable to locate any disturbance.

February 25

• Deputies received a family disturbance call on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue. The caller stated a husband and wife were arguing at the location. The deputies contacted the couple and it appeared the wife was intoxicated. They counseled the couple and determined no crime had been committed.

February 26

• Deputies responded to a possible assault call on Metropole Avenue.

The caller stated a 19 year old male was punching a male adult on his stomach.

The deputies contacted both parties and the victim refused to press charges.

The victim told deputies he spoke to the suspect’s mother about her son’s behavior.

• Deputies responded to a possible drunk driver on Camino De Monte.

The caller stated a male adult was doing donuts in a rental golf cart and was possibly drunk.

The deputies contacted the driver and determined he was not drunk. They warned him regarding reckless driving violations and had him return his rental cart.

February 27

• Deputies responded to a disturbance call on the 100 block of Marilla Avenue. The caller stated an unknown person was banging on his hotel room door. The deputies arrived and contacted a male adult who stated he had an argument with his wife. He said he was banging on the wrong door and would get his own room with the night.

• A man came to the Sheriff’s Station lobby with concerns over the custody of his child. After listening to the man, the deputies determined no crime had been committed. The deputies urged the man to share his concerns with Long Beach Court.

February 28

• Deputies responded to a business disturbance on the 100 block of Catalina Avenue. The caller stated a male was drunk and refusing to leave the business. Upon arriving, the deputies spoke to the manager who advised them the drunk man left prior to them arriving.

March 1

• Deputies conducted foot beat patrols on Crescent Avenue. While patrolling they issued warnings to individuals who were riding their bicycles on Front Street.

March 2

• Deputies received a burglar alarm call on the 700 block of Crescent Avenue. The alarm showed an activation on the first floor of the residence. The deputies checked the location and determined no crime had been committed.
