Sheriff’s Log: April 24-30, 2019 With Capt. John Hocking

Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of April 24-April 30, 2019.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

April 24

• Deputies and first responders responded to a single vehicle traffic collision on Pebbly Beach Road. The driver lost control of her vehicle and went over the side. The vehicle stopped prior to going into the ocean. Two occupants were transported to the hospital.

April 25

• Deputies issued a citation to a motorist for failing to stop at a stop sign at Catalina Avenue and Beacon Street.

April 26

• An Avalon resident reported her golf cart was missing from in front of her residence. The golf cart was found a couple of blocks away. The golf cart had damage to the axle. The investigation is ongoing.

April 27

• Deputies were called to the 200 block of Crescent Avenue regarding a lost/stolen cell phone. A visitor from Spain lost her cell phone while on the island.

April 28

• Deputies received a call of a domestic violence incident that occurred in the 100 block of Metropole Avenue. A pregnant female went to the Catalina Island Medical Center after being involved in an altercation with her ex-boyfriend. The investigation is ongoing.

April 29

• Deputies were contacted by the Arvin, California, Police Department regarding someone in Avalon that was using the social security number of an Arvin resident. Deputies are conducting an investigation.

April 30

• Deputies assisted the Catalina Island Medical Center with traffic control while they transported a CAT scan trailer to the hospital.
