Sheriff’s Log: April 17-April 23, 2019

Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of April 17-April 23, 2019.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

April 17

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Maiden Drive regarding a suspicious male on the property. The suspicious male had left the property prior to the deputies’ arrival.

April 18

• Deputies responded to 888 Country Club Drive regarding a hotel guest causing a disturbance. The deputies contacted the disturbing party who was upset that the television in his hotel room was not working properly.

No criminal laws had been violated.

• Deputies arrested Ramon Castillo of San Pedro at 120 Pebbly Beach Road (Catalina Express) on suspicion of being drunk in public. Castillo had reportedly picked up a bicycle rack and threw it, causing a disturbance.

• Deputies arrested John Doll and Arron Everette of San Pedro on suspicion of assault on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue. Both suspects allegedly assaulted the victim.

April 20

• Deputies responded to Beacon Street and Metropole Avenue regarding a traffic collision. A motorist was driving a golf cart too fast when he made a U-turn. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and sustained minor injuries.

April 21

• Deputies received a call about a male passed out drunk at 1 Banning Rd., in Two Harbors. Deputies arrested Jonathan Silva of Avalon on suspicion of being drunk in public.

• Deputies arrested Michael Hile of Newport Beach in the 170 block of Middle Terrace on suspicion of domestic violence assault, kidnapping, battery and possession of methamphetamine. Hile reportedly forced his wife out of the house and down the street against her will, while allegedly assaulting her and another individual.

April 22

• Deputies assisted with traffic and pedestrian issues at Sumner Avenue and Beacon Street due to the increase in the number of pedestrians at the intersection.

April 23

• Deputies, the L.A. County Fire Department, and the Search and Rescue Team responded to the Trans-Catalina Trail near mile marker 20 regarding a female hiker that suffered a leg injury.

The hiker was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital.
