SHERIFF’S LOG – 08-07-19 to 08-13-19

08-07-2019 – Deputies responded to 92 Pebbly Beach Road regarding a hit and run traffic collision.  A suspect collided into a fence and left the scene.  Deputies obtained information which is leading to the driver of the vehicle.  The investigation is ongoing.

08-08-2019 – Deputies responded to a fight inside a bar in the 100 block of Sumner Avenue.  Deputies separated the parities and determine no crimes occurred.

08-09-2019 – Deputies arrested Mohammed Mohammed from Long Beach for being drunk in public after he was involved in two separate disturbances with security in the 100 block of Sumner Avenue.

Deputies responded to 100 Banning Drive and were asked to check on the welfare of a 52 year old man that lived there.  Deputies were able to enter the man’s apartment and they determine the man had died inside his residence.

Deputies arrested Annabelle Edwards from Avalon for a $35,000, Driving under the Influence of Alcohol warrant, and for suspicion of domestic violence.  She was transported to a jail on the mainland.

Deputies and first responders handled an incident where a 77 year old man died on a fishing boat near San Clemente Island.  The man’s son drove the boat to Avalon Harbor where first responders met him.  The cause of death appears to be natural causes.

08-10-2019 – Deputies arrested David Woolgar from Laguna Hills on suspicion of drunk driving near Whittley Avenue and Crescent Avenue.

08-11-2019 – An Avalon residence came into the Avalon Sheriff’s Station and turned in a small baggie of cocaine which was found in a work vehicle.  The business is working with the Sheriff’s Department to determine which employees had access to the vehicle.

08-12-2019 – Deputies arrested Sean Stamm from McKinleyville California for possessing a concealed loaded handgun.  The deputies responded to a vandalism call where two suspects damaged an umbrella at the Metropole Market Place while being under the influence of alcohol.  When the deputies detained the suspects, one of the suspects had the loaded concealed handgun in his waistband. 

08-13-2019 – Deputies issued an 18 year old male a citation for smoking marijuana in public near Casino Way and Crescent Avenue.  (It is illegal to smoke marijuana in public and be under 21 years old)
