A 1983 graduate of Waldwick High School, Sara began her life’s journey on the east coast,
living and working in New Jersey, New York and North Carolina, before making her way to
California and finding the coastal life she loved on Catalina Island and the San Diego area.
Sara was a shining spirit who loved being at one in nature, especially out on the open water
where she was happiest diving, lobster fishing and listening to the bands playing ashore with
her beloved partner Thomas Plonka and her precious dog, Ben.
In addition to her parents and step-mother Virginia (Tucker) Gallacher, Sara was predeceased
by her sister Ruth Ann (Gallacher) Gleeson. Surviving, in addition to Tom and Ben, are her
brother Steven and wife Sandra (Barta) Gallacher of Glen Summit, PA, step-brother Richard
Tucker and wife Laura (Bremer) Tucker of Chatham, MA, step-sister Carol Tucker and husband
John Hook of Sarasota, FL, step-brother Andrew Tucker of Litchfield, IL, aunt Ruth (Click)
Rosenstein of Morehead, NC, many cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as several grand
nieces and nephews.
Out of respect for the family, a private ceremony will be held to scatter her ashes on the waves
where she was happiest. A celebration of her life is to be held at a later date yet to be
determined. Those who wish to remember Sara in a special way may make gifts in her name to
the San Diego Humane Society via their website at sdhumane.org.
