The Catalina Men’s Golf Club held their annual Four-Ball Net Championship Golf Tournament on Sunday July 16 at the Catalina Island Golf Course.

Nine two-man teams participated in this 18-Hole better ball net format event, where the winning team will represent the club in a Southern California Golf Association(SCGA) qualifying event at Recreation Park Golf Course in Long Beach. Success in the qualifying event will lead to participation in the 44th SCGA Four-Ball Net Championship at the Bella Collina Towne & Golf Course in San Clemente in October.

After 18 holes of play, two teams tied with a low score of 57, seven under par. A sudden death victory playoff between the teams of Marty Saldana/Chris Blehm and Juan Rodriguez/Juan Ramon Rodriguez began on hole #1. It only took this one hole for Juan and his son Juan Ramon to win 1st Place honors with a net birdie score of 3.

Along with Marty and Chris placing 2nd, there was a tie for 3rd Place between the teams of Ron Bevins/Francisco Bravo and Elias Garcia/Jose Sanchez, both shooting a 58, six under par. Steve Jordan was Closest to the Pin on Hole #6, Marty Saldana was Closest to the Pin on Hole #18. Marty Saldana also scored a hole-in-one on hole #2, his 11th Ace overall. Congratulations, Marty.
